The FDA’s new warning about hydroxychloroquine has the media spinning out of control, but what are the facts? Insight from Dr. Ramin Oskoui, cardiologist and CEO of Foxhall Cardiology.

Dr Oskoui dismissed chloroquine as from the discussion “Forget about chloroquine, no one’s using that.”

He went on to advise that hydroxychloroquines toxicity was negligible. “This drug’s toxicity rate is vanishingly low, it is not 5%, it’s probably 0.05%,” he said. “We use this drug in pregnant women, we use it in children, we use it, without monitoring in countries for malaria prophylaxis, you may have taken it yourself.”

“Countries around the world are using this, in hospitals, in doctors offices, as prophylaxis,” Laura Ingraham of FOX pointed out. “Lupus patients, rheumatoid arthritis patients, have been on Hydroxychloroquine for decades.”

The judge’s finest moment may have been when he dashed the most glaring myth about ivermectin—that it is not safe, despite decades of use that shows otherwise. Noting that all drugs have side effects, Judge Fullerton listed ivermectin’s effects from a government website.
“(N)umber one, generally well tolerated; number two, dizziness; number three, pruritus; number four, nausea/diarrhea. These are the side effects for the dosage that’s being asked to be administered,” he said. “The risks of these side effects are so minimal that Mr. Ng’s current situation outweighs that risk by one-hundredfold.”
